noun: an event or person that causes great change

We believe that leadership in these unprecedented times of crisis and opportunity needs to be rooted in:
The essence of good leadership is service.
This means leadership that catalyses change to address pertinent issues for the good of all; including unborn generations and non-human beings. Not through glossy-performance, but through authenticity that welcomes diversity and embraces complexity.
Leadership is being aware and interconnected.
This means having awareness of, and being connected: to our ‘self’ and inner world; to other living beings; and to the natural world around us; and using compassion and empathy, to accept ourselves and each other, as an antidote to fragmentation.
The ends and the means are the same.
This means that in leadership we must have equal focus on the way we do things (the ‘means’) as we do on the outcome we are seeking to achieve (the ‘ends’). Actively modelling the change you want.
We believe in social and ecological justice.
This means being courageous and compassionate to speak up and speak out about the many systems of oppression that play out around and through us. Applying critical thinking, bravery and hope to affect change.
The Change (formerly Lucca Leadership) were a group of leaders called from many sectors who co-created transformational programmes in service of life. Sarah Poppy and Neel met, trained, and worked together with the organisation - until the volunteer trustees weren't able to continue their life-changing work.
But 15 years of expert design and delivery were not to be lost. At Schumacher college, SP and Rozi discussed an idea of a new collective, and 'Catalista' was dreamt into being - an active word to represent the new offering: those ready for change - by taking responsibility for their inner work in order to lead in the outer world.
SP and Tom met at a sustainability leadership training in Oxford; where they connected over new-economics and a love of Joanna Macy’s Active Hope work; it was from here that the four founders began to co-create…
The global pandemic paused things somewhat, and some offerings were re-designed for online, but in-person connection is what’s needed for much of this work. Today, the four founders work as freelance facilitators/coaches/mentors and collectively they come together as Catalista.
